I have just finished working with Linda doing EMDR to deal with a traumatic childhood. Over the years I have tried counselling, CBT, hypnosis and homeopathy with some degree of success. However, my sessions with Linda have really got to the core of my issues and EMDR has helped me to process the feelings and emotions that were stuck in the past, which were impacting me in the present. It has helped me to recognize the impact of my past life and the protective measures I instinctively put in place as a child and how to release myself from them now. I have been amazed at our minds own natural ability to adapt to these changes and the positive impact that has on my life now. This has all been made possible by Linda and her many skills as a therapist. I often felt at the start of a session how difficult things were to face and a feeling of hopelessness but by the end of each session it had come full circle and Linda had pulled everything together, which left me feeling that there was a resolution.
'I think it’s fair to say that Linda has transformed my life with EMDR. I’ll admit I was skeptical about how it could work but after receiving my diagnosis of OCD and being told I’d need a 2 week intensive at home ERP/CBT course I needed to look for other options. I was not in a stable enough place to consider ERP and the thought was causing a lot of anxiety. A friend recommended EMDR so I thought I’d give it a go. The first couple of weeks of therapy we focused on techniques to reduce anxiety, learning about my nervous system, and bringing compassion to my obsessive thoughts. The following weeks we started reprocessing old memories, and although parts of this were very challenging, this journey has felt like the most compassionate way to tackle my OCD. It wasn’t scary, the effect was subtle and without realising it my obsessions and compulsions began to reduce. I’m so grateful to have so much of my life back and a much better understanding of how my brain works, I couldn’t recommend EMDR and Linda highly enough. Thanks so much.'
I can't say enough good things about Linda. Her EMDR therapy has been life-changing for me, especially in dealing with Pure O. From the start, I felt comfortable and understood, which made all the difference. Each session helped me feel more in control of my thoughts and less anxious. It’s amazing how much progress I’ve made thanks to Linda. If you're struggling with similar issues, I can highly recommend EMDR with Linda. I’m so grateful for the help and support she has given me!
Linda was at all times professional, easy to talk to, attentive and listened to every aspect of my issues, with nothing overlooked. I felt totally seen and heard by her. She made what was a difficult period easier to bear because of the way she handled the sessions, ensuring that I was left calm at the end of each one. I would recommend her to anyone without hesitation.
Linda is kind, patient, compassionate, funny, knowledgeable and intuitive. The kind of therapist I’d spent so many years wishing I had in my corner and trying to find. I met her at one of my lowest points and she has and is healing and helping me to heal myself into the person I want to be. She’s listened and helped me feel heard and seen in a way I’d not had by a therapist before. She took on what I was saying from my experiences with my OCD and PTSD and found a way to help me. She’s given me back the hope and trust I had lost in a therapist’s ability to help me.
I had been through a lot of different types of therapy before finding Linda and she is by far the best. Experiencing attachment-focused EMDR with Linda is giving me my life back and opening it up in a way I feared I may never get. To feel it working and the progress made each session and in the subsequent week and on, is something hard to put into words, it’s everything! I much prefer and find the compassionate approach to this therapy so much more beneficial than the CBT and ERP therapies I’ve had in the past, where I was encouraged to see the OCD as a monster. My previous therapy felt like torture, AF-EMDR feels like the way I can heal. I feel so immeasurably thankful for this type of therapy and for Linda who made it happen.
OCD is recognised as one of the top ten most debilitating mental health conditions. Calling OCD “overwhelming” feels too mild — for me, it felt impossible. How can anyone be expected to manage something so powerful if they don’t first feel good enough and secure enough about themselves and confident in who they are? That was where I found myself after years of different therapies. CBT helped for a while, but it never reached the root of my struggles. REBT made things far worse, it pushed me into the darkest time of my life and left me feeling suicidal because I stopped working, became terrified to leave the house, withdrew from everyone, and lived in a relentless, isolating loop with no clear way out.
EMDR has been life changing. For the first time, I’ve been able to access the core beliefs behind my OCD and understand not just how I think, but why I think and feel the way I do. OCD had blurred my sense of self; EMDR helped me reconnect with who I truly am. What surprised me most was the non-shaming approach: when I relapsed into a compulsion I was never told off or judged, instead I was asked to process it and to look for the memory that kept it alive. Each time, the result was both powerful and fascinating. The compulsion consistently traced back to an unprocessed memory I hadn’t even realised I was still holding on to.
Through this work I realised my OCD was essentially stuck in childhood, reacting from a place that didn’t know I am now an adult. EMDR gave me the tools to go back to my inner child, update, and build trust in myself. I can now view past trauma through my adult eyes rather than my childhood eyes, and I have let go of so much that once controlled me. I’m looking forward to going back to work, I’m excited for my future, and while I know OCD will always be part of my life, it no longer drives the car. EMDR has built me up from the root. Without it… it was like going to war without a sword.
I would like to thank all of my clients who have trusted me to share their healing journey! It has been a pleasure to walk along side every single unique human, and sit alongside you in this therapeutic process. I learn and grow from each and every one of you and your experiences. Thank you for showing me just how resilient and beautiful the human body and mind is.
With a warm heart and true hope that comes from seeing the toughest struggles overcome!
